Rescher (2003) illustrates the problem of justification with an example: A person believes Smith is in London (which is false, as Smith is in Manchester), and because Smith being in London entails Smith being in England, the person believes Smith is in England; while the belief is true, the person does not 'know' Smith is in England because the justification is false.
