Between 1990 and 2018, dietary quality trends as measured by the Alternate Healthy Eating Index (AHEI) increased in five of seven global regions: Central/Eastern Europe and Central Asia (+4.6), high-income countries (+3.2), Southeast and East Asia (+2.7), the Middle East and Northern Africa (+2.2), and Latin America and the Caribbean (+1.3).
