The reliance on 'resting-state' data without external stimuli may have resulted in an overestimation of the Default Mode Network's (DMN) role in consciousness and an under-estimation of the Frontoparietal Network (FPN), including the lateral prefrontal cortex, due to their different recruitment during no-task conditions.
