procedure
The inflammatory process in the body follows this sequence: (1) An immune system trigger, such as a paper cut, chronic disease, or virus, initiates a defensive response. (2) The immune system launches an attack, including blood vessel expansion to increase blood flow to affected areas. (3) The immune system fails to recede after the threat is gone. (4) Inflammatory chemicals continue to flood the area, damaging healthy tissue.
