The Rouge Test is a mirror test used in research to test self-awareness in infants by applying a dot of rouge (colored makeup) on an infant’s face and placing them in front of a mirror; if the infant investigates the dot on their nose by touching it, they are thought to realize their own existence and have achieved self-awareness.
