The argument that there is no evidence for panpsychism can be weakened by the observation that we should not necessarily expect to see signs of complex mentality at the simplest level, just as the effects of gravitation are invisible at the level of extremely small sizes and masses despite gravitation being a fundamental feature of the universe.
