The Commission on the Organization of the Government for the Conduct of Foreign Policy recommended that the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) be given greater status in the White House, delegate responsibility for running the CIA to a deputy, occupy an office closer to the White House, and that the CIA be renamed the Foreign Intelligence Agency.
