The Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) defines the documentation requirements for Open Source Hardware (OSHW) as requiring the release of design files that allow for modification and distribution. If documentation is not provided with the physical product, it must be available via a well-publicized method for no more than a reasonable reproduction cost, preferably as a free internet download.
