The 2020 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study found that the negative impact of long sleep (≥10 hours) on overall cognitive function was the most pronounced (β=−3.01, 95% CI −3.39 to −2.63; P<.001), followed by extremely short sleep (≤4 hours; β=−1.85, 95% CI −2.07 to −1.62; P<.001).
