The recommended daily amount of sleep by age group is: 14 to 17 hours for newborns (up to 3 months old); 12 to 16 hours for infants (4 to 12 months old); 10 to 14 hours for young children (1 to 5 years old); 9 to 12 hours for school-aged children (6 to 12 years old); 8 to 10 hours for teenagers (13 to 18 years old); and 7 to 9 hours for adults (18 years and up).
