The criteria for selecting target wild edible plants during focus group discussions included: higher informant consensus value, edibility for an extended period of the year, better harvesting value and ease of collection, wider distribution across agro-ecological zones, utility during normal times and famine periods, fast regeneration under trace moisture, availability during collection time, and safety as confirmed by informants.
