Wu et al. incorporated a lignin-based, sandwich-like bilayer structure into polypropylene using the melt blending method, resulting in a 62.9% decrease in peak heat release rate, a 25.1% decrease in total smoke release rate, and a 43.3% decrease in total smoke release rate compared to pure polypropylene.
