The Sleep Foundation recommends the following tips for getting adequate sleep: (1) Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. (2) Follow a calming bedtime routine every night in the hour or two before bed. (3) Avoid using digital devices before bed and during any nighttime awakenings. (4) Only take daytime naps that are shorter than 30 minutes. (5) Engage in physical activity every day for at least 20 minutes. (6) Keep the bedroom dark, cool, and quiet. (7) Choose a mattress, bedding, and pillows you find comfortable. (8) Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine in the evening.
