Contemporary psychological theories, including humanism, behaviorism, and cognitivism, are considered problematic due to their inability to address four specific theoretical, methodological, and evidentiary issues: the explanatory gap, contrast analysis, the hard and binding problems of consciousness, and the evidentiary issue of consciousness persisting outside the brain.
