procedure
The homeostatic control process begins when receptors (also called monitors or error detectors) detect a disturbance in a physiological parameter and relay information about the deviation to homeostatic control centers (analysers or interpreters). These centers interpret the deviation, determine its magnitude, and stimulate effectors to correct the disturbance and restore homeostasis, at which point the response ceases.
