The Planetary Health Diet Index (PHDI) categorizes food components into four types: adequacy (nuts and peanuts, fruits, legumes, vegetables, and whole grain cereals), optimum (eggs, dairy products, fish and seafood, tubers and potatoes, and vegetable oils), moderation (red meat, chickens and substitutes, animal fats, and added sugars), and ratio (dark green vegetables/total vegetables and red–orange vegetables/total vegetables).
