Saralegi et al. studied the shape-memory properties of segmented thermoplastic polyurethanes incorporated with cellulose nanocrystals (CNC). The study utilized castor oil as a source for polyurethanes and corn cob as a source for CNC, which were covalently bound. Thermo-mechanical data confirmed nearly 100% shape recovery in the second cycle, with CNC increasing hard phase crystallinity and generating more network points.
