A research group using the planetary surface simulation facility (PALLAS) determined that biomarkers adsorbed on Mars soil analog minerals degrade at a substantially slower rate under Martian-like conditions than under terrestrial ambient conditions, suggesting that current Martian conditions favor potential biomarker preservation in mineral matrices.
