Failures of Large Language Models in pragmatic and semantic tasks (Kibria et al., 2024; Zeng et al., 2025) and observations of their neuron patterns (Wu et al., 2024b) suggest limitations beyond pure linguistic knowledge that may parallel human higher-level cognitive processes.
