Guillermo Arrévallo, a Shipibo shaman working in Pucallpa, Peru, describes his healing process: 'I have to organize my work around what the person accepts as their beliefs about what it is that has damaged them, the particular trauma involved. On this basis, I organize the psychological part of the person, which enables me to understand and to see the solution to their problem.'
