The Atherogenic Index of Plasma/Lipid-related index (ALI) should not be used as a prognostic marker for cardiovascular death in hypertensive patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 35.5 kg/m2 or greater, because ALI uses BMI in its equation and high BMI is an established risk factor for cardiovascular death.
