account
Ader and Cohen (1975) demonstrated classical conditioning of the immune system in rats by pairing flavored water with an immunosuppressive drug. The rats developed a conditioned aversion to the water, and the taste of the water alone later produced immunosuppression, indicating the immune system had been conditioned.
