procedure
In the mouse behavioral task, researchers train one group of mice to identify visual stimuli as targets and a balanced group to identify auditory stimuli as targets, with irrelevant stimuli presented alongside targets. Stimuli are presented for 0.5 or 1.5 seconds, preceded by a random pre-stimulus period of 1.5 to 4 seconds (mean 2 seconds) during which the mouse must withhold licking to prevent trial restart.
