Feedback systems consist of three components: (1) Receptors, which monitor changes in a controlled variable and send input to a control center; (2) a control center, which determines the set point for the variable, evaluates input from receptors, and generates output commands; and (3) effectors, which receive output from the control center and produce a response that alters the controlled variable.
