Of 81 diet quality indices identified by Trijsburg et al. (2019), only 18 were eligible for use in low- and middle-income countries, and of those 18, 16 failed to capture three important dimensions of diet quality (adequacy, diversity, and moderation), while the remaining two were country-specific.
