Recommended sleep durations per 24-hour period are: Infants (4 to 12 months) need 12 to 16 hours; Toddlers (1 to 2 years) need 11 to 14 hours; Preschoolers (3 to 5 years) need 10 to 13 hours; School-aged children (6 to 12 years) need 9 to 11 hours; Adolescents (13 to 18 years) need 8 to 10 hours; and Adults (18 years to the end of life) need at least 7 hours.
